• Patient, who have worn artificial eye for sometime, will agree on the importance of the appearance but, it is reality that wearing an artificial eye day by day makes comfort than the very prime consideration to most wearer. Most of the time patient's complaint is that, "The eye is looking good but it is not comfortable."
• This problem is going to solve by introducing the Self-Lubricating Ocular Prosthesis.

• Initially, when a prosthesis fitted first time into the patient's socket then patients are used to get more lubrication. But after few days when patient got adapted with the prosthesis then most of the patient feels dryness over it. The mucus might be deposited over the prosthesis due to dryness.
• The eyelids can not be fully closed for dryness also.

• For these types of patient, a Self-Lubricating Ocular Prosthesis(SLP) can be a very good solution.

• SLP forms a tears layers over the prosthesis through each and every blinking.

Self-Lubricating Ocular Prosthesis

• A SLP is a type of Prosthesis that can lubricant itself by the help of patient's eyelid.
• It is like a normal artificial eye but there is some difference between this.
• It has made by a special technique as well as a special concept.
• There is a chamber at the top position of the prosthesis, full of some lubricating eye drop. There is a very small hole, created on the anterior surface of the prosthesis, into the limbus  (the dark line around the cornea)

• Whenever patient will blink, then the upper eyelid will suck the chamber through that hole and lubricating eye drops will come out and spread all over the prosthesis.
• Patient has to feel this chamber frequently, like 4 or 7 alternative days, and this is so easy work, patient can handle it well. 

It is a simple procedure, patients can do it
them-self easily.
